The NAO Challenge<\/strong> is a national Italian educational competition that engages secondary school students in humanoid robotics through a journey that combines programming, creativity, and live performance.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

At the heart of the challenge is NAO, a humanoid robot capable of speaking, moving, and interacting.<\/p>\n

Throughout the school year, teams learn how to design and program the robot.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The challenge goes beyond technical skills: participants must also create and stage original performances in which NAO becomes an actor, narrator, or character capable of conveying emotions to the audience.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The competition consists of two events:<\/p>\n

  • a technical challenge<\/strong>, which evaluates precision and programming abilities,<\/li>\n

    More\u00a0<\/span>than<\/span>\u00a035\u00a0<\/span>teams<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>from<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>schools<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>across<\/span>\u00a0Italy\u00a0<\/span>took<\/span>\u00a0part in the 2026\u00a0<\/span>edition<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    Each<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>team<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>was<\/span> made up of <\/strong><\/span>seven<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span>ten<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0participants<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/span>including<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>students<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>teacher<\/span>-coaches.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/p>\n

    The\u00a0<\/span>schools<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>represented <\/span>ranging<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>from<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>technical<\/span>\u00a0institutes to science-<\/span>focused<\/span>\u00a0high\u00a0<\/span>schools<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>others <\/span>demonstrate<\/span>\u00a0how\u00a0<\/span>educational<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>robotics<\/span>\u00a0can\u00a0<\/span>bring<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>together<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>students<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>from<\/span>\u00a0diverse\u00a0<\/span>educational<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    The NAO Challenge<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>is<\/span>\u00a0an\u00a0<\/span>experience<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>that<\/span>\u00a0combines\u00a0<\/span>scientific<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>rigor<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>teamwork<\/span>, and <\/span>creative<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>freedom<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>with<\/span>\u00a0the goal of\u00a0<\/span>preparing<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>younger<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>generations<\/span>\u00a0for a future in\u00a0<\/span>which<\/span>\u00a0living and\u00a0<\/span>working<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>alongside<\/span>\u00a0intelligent machines\u00a0<\/span>will<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>become<\/span>\u00a0an\u00a0<\/span>increasingly<\/span>\u00a0important part of\u00a0<\/span>everyday<\/span>\u00a0life.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

    First organized in Italy in 2015 by the Scuola di Robotica in collaboration with CampuStore, the NAO Challenge has become a well-established event in the Italian STEM education landscape.<\/p>\n
